This is a very unusual, midcentury pitcher or coffee server by Holt Howard made for a line called Bronzic. Many of the Howard Holt items you see today are the “cuter” animal items and dishes. We have only seen a few items in this rare line – we think it was likely not produced for very long, or it did not enjoy popularity with the public.
The pitcher features a metal decal on the side of the white china pitcher along with a very interesting matte beige accent coloration or glaze. We think this surface is the “bronzic” treatment. Lid comes off and has a high knob that seems to be slightly tilted (not sure if that’s on purpose).
The lid does have damage to the two tab handles on the bottom – both tabs are chipped slightly, which is understandable because they are very long and thin. You don’t see the tabs, however, when it sits on top of the pitcher. Other than that, the pitcher is in great shape with just a bit of wear to the sides. But because of the damage to the lid, we’re selling this at a discounted price. Would still be a great pickup for a serious Holt Howard collector.
Pitcher measures about 9″ tall, 10.5″ with the lid on. The bottom diameter is about 3.75″ and the top diameter is 4.5″ wide. Marked on bottom with Holt Howard stamp reading: “Bronzik HH Holt-Howard 1962 Japan.”
