This is a beautiful and classic Alvar Aalto “Savoy” vase, which was originally designed way back in the 1930s. The voluptuous, wavy form (incidentally, Aalto means “Wave” in Finnish) is instantly recognizable. These were produced in different color and glass treatments, and are still being produced by IIttala today.
The vase is white on the inside cased in a clear outer layer of glass. Marked on the bottom of the case with “Alvar Aalto”. Would make a great statement on your modern table.
The vase in in good shape except for a small 1/8″ chip to the outside rim (please see the 5th photo). We believe that this chip actually looks worse in the photo than it may when the vase is displayed, because the chip is on the back corner and is not as noticeable unless the vase is displayed backwards. There is also a tiny inner rim nick to the white glass near the front corner, but again we feel it isn’t as noticeable because of the glass color.
Nevertheless, we’re reducing the price on this one significantly because of the damage – the vase normally retails for $105 when new. We also think it’d be great for actual use as a vase.
Measures about 4-3/4″ long by 6″ wide and 5″ tall.
