A wonderful enamel plate from Annemarie Davidson of Sierra Madre. Davidson is a fairly well known enamelist, regarded for her midcentury style rays and starburst designs. However, she also made quite a few enamels that featured animals and other scenes. This one features white and black seagulls on a light blue background.
In excellent vintage condition – back does have some crazing but it’s difficult to see because of the dark color. Front has one small area of roughness / crazing on the smallest seagull, but again, it’s difficult to see. No other chips or cracks. In the photos, the edge looks like it has wear, but this is actually under the glaze.
Marked on bottom with both a gold sticker reading “Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre, California” and her typical stamp under the glaze. Measures about 7.5″ in diameter.
