This is a Annemarie Davidson covered wooden box with an enamel plate inserted into the front. Davidson produced enamel plates and giftware in Sierra Madre, CA from the 1950s up until recently(?). She is more well known for her enamel bowls and plates, and her earlier work is highly sought after by mid century modern collectors. She also appeared in the celebrated exhibition Painting with Fire: Masters of Enameling in America, 1930-1980.
Although this is likely a newer period item, you don’t see these covered boxes as frequently. Measures 5″ x 5″ and is in great condition. Inside of box has a bit of a perfume smell to it. Wood is likely walnut, and has a bit of wear here and there. But no other damage that we can see. Marked on back with a gold sticker reading “Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre, California”.
