Wonderfully modern egg-shaped Brusche Al Fresco shakers made by Bauer Pottery. This Al Fresco line was originally intended by Herb Brutsche to target consumers who were interested in truly contemporary dinnerware. No doubt Brutsche’s design philosophy for this line was very much influenced by Russel Wright , whose American Modern dinnerware line was such a success.
The salt and pepper shakers measure about 2.5″ tall and are around 2 inches wide at the bottom. The color is a dark maroon, which was named “Dubonnet” for Al Fresco. One shaker has two holes, and the other one has three.
The original stoppers are missing, but can easily be found at craft or kitchen supply stores. One of the shakers has a few chips on the bottom from where the stilts were attached when they were fired. Otherwise, they’re in excellent, used condition and would be a great addition to your Bauer collection.
