These unusual two-tone Bauer Pottery cups are from a line that isn’t seen too frequently. Called Mission Moderne, it’s closely related to Bauer’s well-known Monterey Moderne line but is now recognized as a distinct production. Chartreuse to olive color with a brownish drip glaze near the rim, each cup is slightly different. While we don’t believe they’re exceedingly rare, this is the first time we’ve come across the two-tone pattern and the Mission Moderne line.
Cups measure about 2.75″ tall and are 3.5″ wide at the rim. They’re in great shape with no signs of any damage, chips or cracks. There is a small area on the bottom of one where the glaze has come off in the manufacturing process when it was removed from the stilts from the kiln. One other cup has crazing, but it’s also on the bottom of the cup.
These would be a great addition to your Bauer collection, especially for someone looking for items in the Mission Moderne line.
