Fantastic mid-century striped vase from Bay Keramik, a German ceramic company. Thanks to some nice folks on the Pottery and Glass forums, we were able to identify this wonderful piece. It was produced around 1957 or so and the orange, blue and brown line decoration was called “Florida”. Marked on bottom with “Germany 557-25″. There may be another brown mark in the center, but it’s not readable.
The orange line sections are almost “metallic” looking. The rim and base are decorated with gold leaf, but most of it has rubbed off on the top rim. Vase has moderate crazing on the side. Otherwise, in good shape with no major damage.
Measures about 10″ tall, 3 1/2″ wide at base and 5″ at widest point.
