A super cool cat adorns the center of this ashtray, which was made by Pacific Stoneware in the 1970s. The design is by Bennett Welsh, an influential stoneware potter from Oregon who founded Pacific Northwest College of Art’s ceramics department in the 40s-50s.
Would be a great decoration for the table, even if you don’t smoke. We actually thought this ashtray was Italian at first because of the whimsical kitty face and the bright colors. The ashtray has 3 notches cut out of it – very similar to the standard safety ashtrays.
In great condition with no major damage that we can see. There’s a 1/4″ glaze skip area to the inner rim wall. A few scuffs here and there.
Marked on bottom with “c 1974 Pacific Stoneware Inc. BWelsh USA”. There’s also the remnants of a paper sticker on there, that probably had the item number.
Measures about 9 1/4″ in diameter wide, and 2″ tall. Please note, this is a heavy item, so shipping is going to be higher. If you live on or near the West Coast, please let us know because the rate may be much less.
