Cathrineholm Plate
Tagged with: cathrineholmenamelgrete prytz kittelsennorwayplatescandinavia

A beautiful Cathrineholm enamel plate in the sought after “Lotus” pattern, which was designed by Grete Prytz Kittelsen. Interestingly, Kittelsen was known for saying that this wasn’t exactly her favorite pattern – however we (and nearly everyone else who collects Cathrineholm) really love it!

The glaze on this plate is sort of between a mustard yellow and olive green in color, with the lotus pattern in white. Would be a lovely decorative piece in a plate holder, or as a serving plate in the kitchen or den. Interestingly, this plate still retains the original back sticker which reads “Cathrineholm No. 400 / 26 cm – Made In Norway U.S. No. 100″.

Plate is in excellent condition with just some light scuffs to the interior (as if another plate resting on it was moved in a circular motion). There is a bit of wear to the rim, and a tiny bit of rust – but most Cathrineholm plates we’ve seen have this same type of wear. Measures about 10 1/4 inches (26 centimeters) in diameter.
