Stunning red and black glazed bowl or dish by Ceramano. Ceramano was a West German company that produced higher end quality ceramics, often handmade like this one, from 1959-1984 in Ransbach-Baumbach. The company was founded by Jakob Schwaderlapp. Two of the more famous early designers for the company were Gerda Heuckenroth and Hanns Welling – but we don’t know if they designed this particular dish.
We have seen similar pieces like this dish, but flatter, in sets of 3 or 4 that were connected together and meant to be wall hangings. This bowl has a wonderful fiery red and black glaze and is marked on bottom as “32 Granat Ceramano W. Germany Handarbeit”.
In excellent vintage condition, with just a few glaze pops and minor scratches. Measures about 8 1/2 inches wide and about 2 inches tall.
