Wonderful multi-hued German vase that would be an ideal fit for a midcentury modern setting. This one was made by the Dümler & Breiden pottery and features a rough swirled lines in blue, brown and white. The “lava” that you usually see on a lot of German vases is toned down a bit. The colors and decoration almost make it look like one of the California studio potters (i.e. McIntosh).
Age of piece is uncertain – I would’ve guessed 60s to 70s from the look. But it may be much more modern than that since it’s marked on bottom with only the word “Germany”. Also on the bottom are the Dümler & Breiden swords mark and numbers that look like “28-18″ though it’s difficult to tell. There is also an original “Made in Germany” sticker on the bottom, and there seems to be some other numbers or letters that we can’t make out in the backstamp.
Measures about 6″ tall, 3″ wide at mouth and 4.5″ in diameter at widest point. Excellent condition with no noticeable cracks or major chips. A few tiny pinhead dings on the bottom of the vase.
