Fantastic mid-century Glidden Pottery green covered casserole with a wonderful abstract fish design. We aren’t certain about the pattern name or designer for this line, though some have said it may be a Fong Chow design. The hand-painted fish on cover is a lighter green on teal green speckled glaze. A really nice touch is that the interior of casserole has a similarly painted fish design, but with just the bones! We’ve heard that this line was shown on the I Love Lucy show and may date from the early 40s to late 50s.
Casserole is marked on reverse with “Glidden 412″. Casserole is in excellent condition. Some minor nicks and wear to the surface but overall in great shape. Cover has a slight line or indentation that occurred during glazing – this is visible in the photos as a horizontal line through the scales. Would be a nice addition to your Glidden collection – or perhaps you collect this line.
Casserole measures about 13 1/2″ long, 6 1/2″ wide and 2 3/4″ tall.
