Hanova Candle Holder - $45.00

Wonderful Hanova of Pasadena large candle holder with curled handle. Teal blue-green mottled bubble enamel on steel, likely made in the 60s-70s. Hanova is known for their striking enameled dishes, bowls, planters and candle holders. We have seen this style labeled Brutalist“, referring to Brutalist Architecture, but we don’t think this an accurate classification.

We are fairly certain about this piece being from Hanova, but it doesn’t have its original sticker on the bottom. Hanova pieces are rarely marked directly on the enamel – they mostly had stickers which were peeled off afterwards. That, and the fact that there’s not a lot of available information about the company, leads to a lot of confusion on identification.

Wonderful random pattern of green-blue bubbles on the surface of the candle holder. Pattern also appears on the bottom of the item. n good vintage condition with some flaking and chipping to the enamel. We’ve seen a number of these candleholders and nearly all have chipping or flaking where the handle meets the base of the candleholder like this one does. See the 3rd and 4th photos for photos of the chips. However, the nature of the glaze makes it harder to notice. Measures approximately 8.5 inches across and 3.5 inches tall at the handle. Would make a great centerpiece in a mid century modern living room.
