Payment Options
At this time, we only accept Paypal for payment on the A La Modern website.
If you don’t feel comfortable using Paypal, or you would like to work out some other payment option, please let us know BEFORE placing your order.
Sales Tax
We collect California sales tax on all orders shipped to addresses in California. We do not collect sales tax on any orders from other states. If you reside in a different state than California, you’re responsible for any applicable local state taxes.
Sales / Discounts
From time to time, we may offer sales or discounts on items, orders or shipping. These sales and discounts are good only for the time specified, or until the item or group of items is sold out. No rain checks are accepted.
Prices, Item Stock and Condition
Please understand – this is NOT Ebay. While we make effort to keep prices down, this is not a bargain basement website. We try to limit the amount of junk present on the site and offer only items we think would be interesting to customers interested in vintage and modern housewares. We DO have overhead that pure Ebay sellers do not have – this may be reflected in the prices. However, if we come across items that don’t seem to be a fit for our site, we may occasionally offer them on Ebay.
Most the products sold on the A La Modern website are one-of-a-kind, vintage items. Because these are older items, some amount of wear should be expected. In most cases, this wear will be minimal (or will even contribute to the look and authenticity of the piece). Occasionally, we will list items that have more damage. If this is the case, then the damage will be noted in description or pictures, and will be reflected in the price. Please read the entire description and look at all the pictures before making your purchase.
Once a vintage item sold out, it is gone. We are not responsible if someone buys an item before you do. However, if you are interested in a particular item that has sold out, please let us know and we’ll email you if we get another one in stock.
Returns
Sales on all vintage items are final. We do not offer returns, exchanges or store credit on any vintage items sold through the A La Modern store. All items have been described both with photos and copy as accurately as possible. Please make sure to ask all questions BEFORE you place your order. We will be happy to send additional photos or information on an item before you make your purchase.
Insurance
All United States orders are shipped with USPS insurance, unless otherwise specified. In all cases, shipping If you have received an item and it has been damaged in shipment, please let us know IMMEDIATELY. Any damage claims must be made within 48 hours of the pacakge arrival. In most cases, a USPS insurance claim form will need to be filled out – you may need to provide proof of damage, proof of loss, or partial loss of contents.
