Wonderful long-necked white ceramic giraffe produced by Jaru Art Products, a California pottery that produced from the 1950s up until the 80s. The company was started by Jack and Ruth Hirsch and made housewares, decorative items, and gardenware.
While unmarked, we have seen this giraffe with a platinum glaze listed in Chipman’s Scrapbook (pg 284) and online in several different other different colors. Would look spectacular in a modern setting or in a tall cabinet. Four feet at bottom have partial green felt pads left over. There is a hint of a sticker left on bottom, which was probably the Jaru sticker originally used.
In good vintage condition with no major damage. There is a small chip to the ear (see photo) that isn’t very noticeable because the glaze color is also white. There is a small manufacturing blob of blue color near the bottom of the giraffe where the feet connect to the body (see photo).
Giraffe measures about 14 1/4″ tall.
