Five stylish La Gardo Tackett designed saucers in a plain white glaze. These were designed for Schmid International, probably in the 60s. We believe these fit the taller cylindrical demitasse cups. Maybe you have those cups but need the saucers?
Tackett was a very notable modern ceramicist. Most importantly, he was the force behind Architectural Pottery whose wares are associated with the midcentury modernist movement and are highly coveted today. His production design work for Schmid is less well known, but just as beautiful.
These Schmid saucers were actually produced in Japan. Marked on the reverse with “Schmid-60 Porcelain” along with the Tackett signature. Two of the saucers have partial foil stickers as well.
The saucers are in excellent condition with no damage that we can see. Would be a great pickup for a collector who’s looking for saucers for the aforementioned cups to complete their set.
Saucers measure approximately 3 3/8″ wide and the cup indentations are about 1 3/8″ wide.
