Awesome La Gardo Tackett modern creamer in a warm yellow glaze. These were designed for Schmid International, probably in the 60s.
Tackett was a very notable modern ceramicist. Most importantly, he was the force behind Architectural Pottery whose wares are associated with the midcentury modernist movement and are highly coveted today. His production design work for Schmid is less well known, but just as beautiful.
We believe this a creamer from a tea or coffee service – it’s a mustard yellow color with a gray accent line on top, with white on the interior and bottom. The creamer has two indentations on either side for easy gripping. The glaze is an interesting heavy “matte” type which is different than most Schmid items designed by Tackett. It’s marked on the reverse with the Schmid / Tackett logo stamp.
The creamer measures about 2.5″ tall and 3.25″ at the widest. In great vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Would be great for someone looking to complete their Tackett service. We actually have matching snack plates in this exact pattern.
