A wonderful modern Lloyd Lamp designed in the 1960s that would be great for the office. This little desk lamp was featured in the 1996 issue of Design. It’s unclear who the designer was, but it was an American design that was produced in Japan for the British market.
The great thing about this lamp is how it can be compacted into a sleek cylinder to be used as a nightlight, or expanded to function as a standard desk lamp. The main body is a white hard plastic, and the base is connected to the reflector by an aluminum arm. The lamp is turned on through a collar switch around the top of the lamp base, and there is a low and high setting.
We really like how this lamp can be angled in several different ways, and how so much thought went into the design. There’s even a little metal stabilizer that can be pulled out of the bottom of the lamp so it’s more sturdy.
Lamp is in excellent condition but with some scratches and wear to the plastic casing and to the collar switch. Tested in good working condition, with a standard 120V two prong plug with cord. Lamp measures about 2 1/2 inches in diameter, 7 1/4 inches tall when compacted, and about 15″ tall when arm is fully extended.
