Wonderful little McAfee Gardens wall pocket planter with a thin white glaze over red clay. This is an interesting California pottery run by two sisters from San Gabriel that produced mostly garden ware meant for succulents and cacti in the 1940s-50s. Some of their items are partially unglazed and “brushed”, similar to Barbara Willis’s items, but this wall pocket is glazed all over in a plain white color.
Marked on bottom in-mold with “McAfee 26A”. In good condition, but with moderate to heavy crazing throughout the piece, especially on the bottom. Some water stains and calcium deposits to interior. One small fleabite to a top corner.
Measures about 3 3/4″ tall and 4″ by 3″ wide at top.
