Wonderful modernist, wrought-iron gazelle. This little fellow was designed as a candleholder, but could be used as decoration or perhaps in the garden.
We’ve done a bit of research on this item and now believe it to be a more modern production, likely from India. Originally, we’d thought this item might have been a modernist/brutalist American or German production. Still a wonderful, hand-made piece that woudl fit well in a midcentury modern setting. The horns on the animal have been turned and shaped while the metal was still hot.
Gazelle is in good condition – there is a bit of rusting apparent and some wear, though it’s difficult to tell because of the rough nature of the piece.
Please note: we would not recommend this item for households with younger children, as the wrought-iron horns are rather sharp.
Gazelle measures about 9″ tall and 7 1/4″ in length.
