Cute vintage pair of Arabia of Finland "Ali" pattern demitasse cups and saucers. We believe these are the demitasse cups as opposed to the standard teacups, because of the foot on the cup.
We aren't certain who the designer was on the Ali pattern, but do know that it came in both blue and brown. Uncertain on the date of manufacture as well, but certainly looks earlier than the 1970s. We think this pattern might be a little difficult to come by, since we haven't seen too many others online.
These delicately shaped cups feature a lovely cobalt blue floral pattern. We believe it is some sort of transfer-ware, because you can see some little areas where it did not take. The saucers are also patterned and are rather nice because they have a tall rim for spills.
Both cups and saucers are marked with the Arabia mark and "Made in Finland". There is a number on each as well reading "11-9".
In great condition with no damage that we can see. Seem to be a few glaze pops here and there, which we understand is very common on this type of ware. A bit of light scratching to the surface of the saucers. Crazing is minimal, as far as we can tell.
Cups are about 2 5/8" tall with an opening of about 2 5/8" across. Saucers are about 4 1/4" wide.
