Arthur Umanoff Taverneau Trays

Great looking set of two mid century modern Taverneau collection wooden serving trays designed by Arthur Umanoff and distributed by Raymor. We have had a few of these pieces, wonderful modern forms - interestingly we had originally thought all the "Pantalcraft" pieces from Haiti were designed by Umanoff but it turns out that only certain pieces are. One longer tray, and another shorter divided tray, both made of the rare Haitian wood "Taverneau" with handles that are wrapped in rattan. Both marked on reverse with original stickers as well as stamped "Made in Haiti" into wood. Stickers read: "...from the Taverneau Collection Designed by Arthur Umanoff. Wipes clean with damp cloth. May be used for hot food... alcohol proof. Hand carved and Hand Finished in Haiti. Distributed by Raymor. *A rare Haitian wood". One of the stickers has the original number of 540.

In good vintage condition, with some very minor scuffs here and there. Rattan handles do show some wear, including a bit of flaking. Small amount of wear and dirt to the wood itself.

Measures about 19" by 9 1/2" and 12 1/4" by 10 1/2".
