A fantastic whimsical Bitossi Italian turtle shaped covered box in the yellow and brown Carta Florentina pattern. Probably an Aldo Londi design, likely dates to the 60s-70s. Features incised and decorated shell with floral and clover "Florentina paper" pattern - top of shell lifts off from body so it forms a sort of box. Bottom portion is glazed plain brown. Signed on bottom of one foot with what looks like Italy 824.
In good vintage condition, with no cracks or damage. There is a flake off the foot where it is signed, see photo. There is a bit of wear to the brown paint in various places where the shell and body edges meet. Some crazing in the glaze on the shell, some dust in the holes. Some glaze drips.
Measures about 10" by 7 1/2" wide and 3 1/2" at tallest point.
