A wonderful, hard-to-find Italian orange and brown vase, likely Bitossi for Rosenthal Netter. We haven't seen this exact shape which is a ball form with a thick neck. Construction is rough formed stoneware clay, typical of Bitossi pieces. Incised with line decorations that are glazed orange. Top and base area is also orange, while the main body is brown. Marked on the bottom with "805 Italy".
In good vintage condition, with no cracks or chips or damage. One small flake at the top rim that we think is related to manufacturing, likely an impurity plus popped bubble - see the last photo. Some pops and a few nicks to the glaze, some indentations in the clay from manufacturing - extremely common on these rougher Italian pieces.
Measures about 9" tall, 3 1/4" wide at top, 6 1/2" at widest.
