Curtis Jere Children and Dog Sculpture

Fantastic and unusual Curtis Jere (C. Jere) bronze metal sculpture attached to a large quartz rock. This is a depiction of three children at play, holding hands and running with a dog. Really great look to this piece from the 1970s, have not been able to find one like it yet. The closest one I found featured the dog as well, but it was a boy flying a kite.

The bronze dog and the children are attached to rock with metal rods, but are actually removable. I believe this is intentional, but am uncertain - it's actually nice because the dog can be rotated in different poses. The children are fixed in one pose. Signed on the back side of the quartz piece with "C. Jere '71".

This is the well known company started by Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels which made a variety of sculptures like this in the 1960s-70s. Highly prized today by collectors of midcentury modern objects, and believe this particular one to be uncommon or rare.

In good condition, wtih some very light wear - as stated the dog and the children are removable from the rock, but do not seem to be broken in any way. There is some light wear around the holes where the metal is inserted. The quartz piece seems solid, there is a drilled hole on the bottom. Uncertain the reason for it, but believe it might have been drilled when the rock was cut. Hard to tell with these natural quartz type of rocks which areas may have chipped/cracked or not, but overall still solid.

Measures about 10" by 10" wide and 7 1/2" tall (rock itself is 3 1/2" tall).
