A beautiful studio pottery teapot by David Stewart. These teapots are uncommon, we haven't ever had any of his even after collecting for over 10 years. Speckled stoneware construction with graceful looped applied handle, and lid with finial. The glaze on this one is a mottled maroon with black, along with beige drip glaze. Marked with Stewart's DS cypher on the bottom.
In good vintage condition, with no cracks but there is a chip out of the finial - see the photos, could easily be displayed with it turned away, or might be restored. There are 6-7 small fleabite flakes to the rim edge, they aren't completely hidden by the lid but aren't that noticeable. Price reduced for the chip to the finial. Some pops to the glaze.
Measures about 9" wide handle to spout, 5 3/4" tall at handle.
