Emil Milan Salt Cellar and Spoon

A tiny, small sculptural wooden salt cellar bowl with spoon designed by Emil Milan (Emilan). A noted woodworker whose work resides in galleries and museums around the country, he's known for functional items like this salt and spoon set - but we actually know of him through his elegant wooden bird sculptures from a number of different woods.

This set is hand crafted out of Bissilon, a dense wood from Africa. The salt cellar has a very fluid shape, with a narrow pointed handle. The shape of the spoon echoes the curves of his bird sculptures, and has small holes drilled in the bottom. Signed on the bottom of bowl with "Emilan Bissilon", the spoon is marked on back of handle with "Emilan".

In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips. A bit of minor wear, scuffing, scratches and marks but overall in great shape.

Salt cellar measures about 4 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches wide, 1 1/4 inches tall. Spoon measures about 3 1/4 inches long.
