A wonderful and whimsical hippopotamus ceramic sculpture by Hal Fromhold. Purple and blue heavily pockmarked glaze on this funny looking creature with large nose and sculpted ears and eyes. We actually thought this might be designed by Bertil Vallien when he worked with Fromhold, but are unsure of that. Have also seen somewhere that it was called "Emily" but also cannot confirm that. Would make a great addition to a mid century modern collection of ceramics. Marked on back very faintly, but does look like the HF stamp.
In good vintage condition, with no cracks or chip. Numerous pops to glaze, some popped completely. Some dust and dirt here and there.
Measures about 9 inches long, 6 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall.
