A stunning gold ceramic horse (or giraffe?) sculpture from Jaru Art Products, a California pottery that produced from the 1950s up until the 80s. The company was started by Jack and Ruth Hirsch and made housewares, decorative items, and gardenware.
This piece is unmarked, but we're nearly certain it's from Jaru, and it fits all the characteristics of items from the company. Would look spectacular in a modern setting or in a curio cabinet. Piece is hollow and unglazed bottom has partial green felt pads left over.
In good vintage condition with no major damage. There is some minor scuffing and wear to the gold paint. The largest area of gold wear occurs on the top of the tail (see photo). There's also a small scuff on the face, also seen in the photos. A few stray nicks to the body and base here and there.
Measures about 9 1/2" tall, 7 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide.
