Wonderful black and white lithograph by acclaimed artist Leo Politi (1908-1996), featuring children at play under trees in the woods. Politi was originally from Italy and moved to California in the 1930s where he worked for most of his career. Known for his illustration in children's books, he also worked in painting and sculpture, often focusing on the Mexican-American experience.
We haven't seen another print like this one so far, although there is another black and white print out there with children playing as subject. Signed and dated 1970 within the plate. Framed in black painted wood with silver paint edging, and glass front.
In good vintage condition, with some light wear and scuffs to the black and silver paint on frame. Print itself seems in good condition. Back is paper that has been partially removed, print is held in w/ nails with cardboard backer.
Measures about 29 1/2" by 23". Printed area itself is about 26" by 19 3/4".
