Mary Burton Vase

A beautiful crystalline blue black weedpot vase by Mary Burton. Elegantly formed ceramic piece with large dark cobalt blue crystals formed in the glaze on a plain black background. Crystals even extend a bit to interior rim of vase - believe it takes a measure of skill to get them to form correctly when fired in the kiln. We've been trying to find out more about the artist but there isn't any biographical information that we've seen so far. She's likely a California studio potter though. Her work is similar to a few other artists who work with crystalline glazes that we've found, including John Mankameyer, Louise Reding and Jon Price. Signed on base with "Burton".

In good vintage condition, with no cracks or chips. Some crazing throughout the piece.

Measures about 5 1/2" tall, 1 1/4" wide top, 3 3/4" widest.
