A lovely modern porcelain pitcher by Michael Aram in the discontinued "Africana" pattern. We don't know too much about this particular pattern, but we know that Aram has created many different groundbreaking dinnerware lines that are highly sought after. For some reason, the design of this pitcher seems to have a bit of a Scandinavian feel to us, almost like some of the Upsala Ekeby works out of Sweden.
Primarily a metal-worker, Aram has also extended his craft to include ceramics and porcelain items that echo the same themes that he employs for metallic sculpture and design work. More information is available on the Michael Aram website.
In excellent condition with little wear - a few metal marks to sides of pitcher and some manufacturing glaze pops as is normal for this type of production. If you already have items in the Africana pattern, this would be a great chance to add to your collection - we've rarely, if ever, seen the pitcher for sale elsewhere.
Pitcher measures about 8 3/4" tall, with an opening that is about 6" by 4 1/2".
