A beautiful and elegant art glass pheasant bird designed by Oiva Toikka for iittala Nuutajarvi Notsjo in Finland. Believe that this is a pheasant bird (Fasaani) and was made in the early 1980s. Features a hand-blown body with metallic gray iridescent stylized feather pattern over a red glass body, with applied head and beak. This is from Oiva Toikka's well-known bird series which was begun in 1971 and continues to this day. Hand signed on bottom of the glass with "Oiva Toikka Nuutajarvi Notsjo".
In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Some manufacturing roughness, lines and pops to the glass. A bit of manufacturing roughness to the area where the head connects to neck. A bit of roughness on the tip of the beak, but believe that to be manufacturing also.
Measures about 8" long, 5 1/4" tall, 4 1/2" widest.
