A fantastic, large deep studio bowl and set of 4 small cups from master potters Otto and Vivika Heino from Ojai, CA. They were extremely well-respected and influential potters, known throughout the world for their ceramic glazes and utilitarian but elegant pot designs. Believe this to be a punch bowl with cups, but could be used for anything. Would look great displayed with other California modern pottery.
Beige and gray glaze spiral design on sides, large dark speckles in the glaze. Cups have similar glaze color treatment. Signed on bottom with "Vivika and Otto". Cups are unsigned.
In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Because this is a hand made studio piece, there are irregularities like pops, firing holes, and divots in the clay here and there. There is one flake on the bottom rim, but unsure if that is related to glaze pulloff or not - does not show when bowl sits normally.
Measures about 8 3/4" wide at top and 5 3/4" tall, cups measure about 2 3/4" tall, 2 1/2" wide at top.
