Robert Maxwell Rhinoceros

Unusual Robert Maxwell stoneware rhinoceros, produced in the 1960s as part of a series of zoo animals. Gray-beige in color, the rhino is cast unglazed stoneware. We usually don't say rare in listings, but believe that these were produced for only a short time - and have not seen another like it so far. The color on these animals can vary from gray to brown to reddish. Unmarked, but identical to the one shown on the Robert Maxwell site and in Jack Chipman's Encyclopedia (page 285).

In good vintage condition, with no cracks or chips. A bit of light wear to bottom, some sticker or paper residue.

Measures about 6 1/2" long, 4" tallest.
