Swedish Rosendahl Carafe

A striking mid-century modern orange and black thermos carafe. It's composed of a wonderful mixture of plastic and wood and comes from Falkenberg, Sweden. We haven't been able to find out too much about the designer G. Rosendahl or the company. It seems to have been a collaboration between JH Appelqvist and Gunnebo Bruk. But in any case, we're certain it's a vintage item, most likely from the 1960s. Bottom stamp on plastic reads: "J H Appelqvist A-B, Gunnebo Bruk, Made in Sweden. Design: G Rosendahl Falkenberg Sweden."

This stylish carafe is made of orange yellow plastic on top, with a black plastic base. The interior of the carafe is actually a thermos which means it could be used to keep liquids hot or cold. We've disassembled the carafe once, you can twist the base off to clean it. Handle and stopper is made of some sort of wood - we had read it might be teak, but aren't sure about that.

In great condition with very little usage to be seen overall. Some minor fine scratches to the plastic in a few areas. The rubber part of the cap has degraded, but is otherwise intact. We think this might be replaceable, but will leave that up to the future owner.

Carafe measures about 9 1/2 inches tall with the stopper in, and about 4 1/2 inches in diameter.
