A classic ashtray by Robert Maxwell, featuring a crackle glass reddish sun shaped interior surrounded by raised cigarette holders. This would be a great addition to a modern setting, even if you don’t smoke. California ceramicist Robert Maxwell is more well known for his “Beasties” line, but he also made ashtrays like this one and other gardenware. His designs are becoming very popular, and we’re just waiting for the day when they’re featured on a show like Mad Men.
Ashtray is in great shape with just a few tiny nicks in the glass that may actually be manufacturing flaws. No cracks or chips to the body that we can see. Marked on the back with “Robert Maxwell”, though we’re unsure if this is a stamp from the mold or an actual signature. Measures about 8 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall.
