A quirky, modern glass bear or pig from Studiolasi in Pertunmaa, Finland. This glass sculpture has an original sticker dating it to 1977, though we’re uncertain if this is the date of production, or the date of the company’s inception. Sticker also reads “Finnish Hand Made Glass”. We’ve been able to find any conclusive biography for the company. However, we have seen animals by Studiolasi sell for upwards of $60.
We’re uncertain if this animal is a bear or a pig – the interior of the glass has a dark navy blue center. Bottom of animal has been ground polished. In good vintage condition, except for a few light scratches to the body and the area where the legs meet in front (we’re not sure if the latter may have happened in manufacturing). There are also 2 fleabites near the base foot but they aren’t very noticeable.
Measures about 3.5″ tall, 4.75″ long and 2.25″ wide.
