Wonderful Bennington Potters tall bowl originally designed by famed Japanese ceramicist Yusuke Aida sometime between 1961 and 1964. This line is referred to as "Classic Bennington" and the bowls are shape #1641, meant for soup or salad. Marked on reverse with the older Bennington imprint.
The glaze appears to be one of the original colors from the series - sometimes referred to as "Tawny" or mustard yellow. More informationon the glazes appears on Bennington's website. We think this was a collaborative line with David Gil. Have heard that some of Aida's 1600 shapes were repurposed by Bennington in later years.
In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips.
Bowl measures about 5 1/2" wide (6" wide handle to handle) and are about 2 1/4" tall.
