Bison Ikebana

Iconic modernist Bison ikebana stoneware footed planter vase in the desirable turquoise blue color. The Bison has become one of the most desirable modernist forms for Japanese stoneware ikebana pieces. It has a recognizable footed form with large "eye" opening. This one is turquoise blue with subtle brown highlights in the rough sandy glaze. Probably 1970s production from one of the old school Japanese kilns (have heard it is from the Seizanyaki line but cannot confirm that), and then imported by Toyo or another company. Would go nicely with other Japanese ikebana or mid century design ceramics. Unmarked, often had blue Japan stickers.

In good vintage condition, with no cracks, chips or damage. Light dust, some pops in the glaze.

Measures about 10 3/4" long, 7 3/4" tallest, 3 1/2" depth.
