A striking, modernist West German vase designed by Bodo Mans for Bay Keramik. This line was known as "Istanbul" and was produced in the 1960s. Great abstract zig zag stained glass design with panels of different colors on a gray-blue bubbled fat lava background. We've seen various different shapes with this pattern, but most of them did not have the colored panels that ours does - they only had the white outline of the designs. Glazed turquoise on interior, brown on base. Marked on bottom with "West Germany 1032-20".
In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Some light crazing throughout, some pops to glaze and body of vase.
Measures about 8 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" at opening, 4" by 2 3/4" wide.
