Cleminsons Hedi Schoop Vase

Fantastic, tall floor vase with splatter-drip treatment designed by Hedi Schoop for the Cleminsons California pottery. This was from a collaborative line that Hedi worked on in the late 50s. The molds used for the line included some from Schoop, some from the Cleminsons and some from Barbara Willis. I'm uncertain which mold this one is from but it's an impressive mid-century piece that would certainly make a statement. White with black glaze design with black glazed interior. An example is shown on page 87 of Chipman's Encyclopedia of California Pottery and page 201 of his California Pottery Scrapbook. In the latter, the line was labeled "Happy Talk". This one is unmarked, as were most of the pieces in the line as far as we know.

In good vintage condition with no cracks or damage. Moderate crazing throughout. A few flakes or tiny chips to the glaze here and there, but not very noticeable due to the nature of the glaze treatment.

Measures about 16" tall, 3 3/4" wide at top and 5" wide at base.
