Einar Lilleberg Wooden Bird

Lovely wooden bird figure attached to pyramid base by Einar Lilleberg. Bird is attached to base using a screw on bottom, looks very similar to the Emilan birds but don't believe there is any connection. This one is interesting because it is made out of Goncalo Alves, a dark wood generally from Mexico and South America. We've had a few of these wooden birds by Lilleberg (previously in oak and walnut) - he was a person of some note from the Big Bear area here in Southern California.

Searching for him nowadays comes up with a lot of our own blog entries and listings, please note most sellers are just copying the information we've had in our A La Modern listings word for word. We've done research previously on his work - some of his items are marked "GVL" for Green Valley Lake which is also in the Big Bear area - I actually went fishing there at one point in the 1990s. Marked on bottom with stamped letters "Goncalo Alves Einar Lilleberg".

In good vintage condition, with some wear and minor scuffs here and there. Bird is attached to the bottom wedge of wood.

Measures about 7 1/4" long, 4 1/2" tallest.
