Super cool and kitschy cocktail server made by the german company WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik). WMF is known more for there silver and silver plate metalwork. The company's history dates as far back as to the 1880s and they continued producing silver and other metal ware up until the present day.
We believe this curious shaker may have been made sometime in the late 1960s to 1970s, but could possibly be a much later production. We couldn't figure out whether it's supposed to be a duck, a penguin or some other bird (or maybe not even a bird). In any case, we were told this was a cocktail shaker. It unscrews on the bottom and the liquid pours out of the "bill" area which is a hinged lever. We're not too sure yet how you'd fill this up from the bottom without everything spilling out the top - maybe you could let us know? We think it'd make a great addition to your midmod decor.
Edited: We've since found out that this was originally a nut or candy dispenser. This makes a whole lot more sense!
Marked on bottom plastic cap with "WMF Germany". Good quality metal on top and faux wood grain plastic for the bottom. Eyes are actually "stickers" and do have a bit of wear
In good condition with no major damage.
Measures about 7.5" tall and 2.5" wide.
