Otto Heino Large Studio Bowl

A fantastic, large studio bowl from master potter Otto Heino from Ojai, CA. Otto and Vivika were extremely well-respected and influential potters, known throughout the world for their ceramic glazes and utilitarian but elegant pot designs.

We've only had a few pieces by Heino, this one honestly looks like it belongs in a museum. This very large bowl came out of an estate here in Southern California. Believe this is some sort of salt glaze, light blue and dark gray leaf designs on a lighter gray background. Pinkish-brown clay construction, hand thrown with visible finger rings on reverse and interior. Signed on back with what looks like "Otto 97", though it possibly could be "07" instead.

In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Because this is a hand made studio piece, there are irregularities like pops, firing holes, and divots in the clay here and there. The last two photos show the most notable ones. Please see all the photos - overall it's in great shape. Please ask all questions before purchasing.

Measures about 11" wide, 2 1/4" high.
