Saar Ceramics Pitcher


A rare, fabulous covered California pottery pitcher with abstract modern design by Richard and William Saar from the 1950s-60s. The Saar Ceramics pottery was actually run by both Richard and his brother William - there was a recent exhibition on Saar Ceramics at the AMOCA museum. Stylized leaf or plant decoration in black, brown and dark green with base glaze color a drizzly speckled green and white color. Tall modern form with lid, handle is extremely elongated with hole in middle. Marked on the bottom with Saar.

In good vintage condition, with no cracks or chips. Some light scratches here and there, pops to glaze.

Measures about 12" tall, 7" wide and the handle adds about 4" to the width.
