An unusual Robert Maxwell Ceramics stoneware charger or serving platter, with mottled heavy blue glaze paired with pink. Features his trademark very rough stoneware clay with an inset rim detail. Dating from 2002, have not seen too many others if any with this unusual glaze pattern - am wondering if it was perhaps a demonstration or test piece. I do recall at one point Maxwell was teaching pottery at a secondary school (coincidentally very close to where we used to live), and am thinking this might be an experiment from that period in time. Signed on back with Robert Maxwell 2002.
In good vintage condition with no cracks or chips - there are some manufacturing firing cracks on the back. Some light scratches and usage wear to interior. Cork feet on back are coming off.
Measures about 11 3/4" wide.
