Royal Copenhagen Bowl

Beautiful, small Royal Copenhagen bowl designed by Ellen Malmer in the early 80s. This line was known as "Celeste" and included several different sizes of bowls. We believe this one functioned as a "chawan" or rice bowl, but it would function great as a decorative element in a midcentury modern setting.

Marked on the bottom with the Royal Copenhagen stamp along with Ellen Malmer's ID mark. It also includes the numbers "967/3897" - we originally had thought that this referred to the production number in a limited series. However, we now believe that 967 stands for the decoration serial number for Celeste, and 3897 may be the serial number of the actual item. Bowl has lovely floral blossom painted elements on the side on a light blue-gray background. Interior of bowl is also blue and has some dark speckles.

In good vintage condition, but there appears to be a tiny hairline on the rim. We believe that this happened in manufacturing, since the glaze appears to be on top of the line. We've tried to show the line in question in the 3rd photo.

Bowl measures about 4 3/8" wide and 2 5/8" tall.
